Many people are hesitant to use Linux because they think it is very difficult. This might be true for distributions like Gentoo or Arch which have a steep learning curve but there are many distros which focus on being user-friendly. 1) Linux Mint

Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, support for DVD playback, Java and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, and a web-based package installation interface. Linux Mint is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories. This distro is one of the best user-friendly distro as it gives you windows like start button and menus, but it is also based on Ubuntu.
