$400 Mini-ITx HTPC + Gaming PC

February 19, 2018     $400 Mini-ITx HTPC + Gaming PC, cheap gaming pc, cheap htpc, cooler master elite 130, Gaming PC, HTPC, PC, ryzen 3 2200g     1 comment

$400 Mini-ITx HTPC + Gaming PC :
Want a cheap Small & Compact PC for your living room? Don't Have the space for a full sized ATX PC? Then don't worry as you have came to the right place. Today, I am presenting you a cheap $400 Mini-ITx HTPC + Gaming PC which can be used in the living room as an HTPC and capable of running some light modern games and ESports Titles along with some heavy titles at medium settings.

CPU/APU : AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G
This is the newly released AMD's Raven Ridge APU with Vega Graphics. It is a amazing APU with 4 Cores and a base clock of 3.5 GHz and a turbo clock of 3.7 GHz. It has 8 Vega Compute Units. Also, it has a low TDP of just 65 Watts. It also includes a nice Cooler with it. Thus, this APU is perfect for our needs.

Motherboard : Gigabyte - GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI (rev. 1.0) Mini ITX AM4
This Motherboard is very good for the price of just $90. It has Wifi along with a nice BIOS. It has a lot of LED power plugs and M.2 support with a very useful magnetic WiFi antenna. It has 2 DIMM slots and supports upto 32 GB of memory. It also has Raid Support. The disadvantage is that it has a slight VRM heating issue. Also some power headers of this Motherboard are in awkward positions. Despite the Cons, it is a great choice of our build as it has good High Speed Memory Support along with WiFi support.

RAM : Team - Vulcan 8GB(2x4 GB) 3000 MHz DDR4 Memory
For the RAM, I went with The Team - Vulcan 8GB(2x4 GB) 3000 MHz DDR4 Memory. It is the cheapest 3000 MHz RAM at the time of writing this article. It is great as it is very fast and is perfect for our APU which benefits with Higher Speed RAMS. It can also be Overclocked upto 3200 MHz, which will improve performance by a good percentage.

Storage : SanDisk SSD PLUS 240 GB SSD
For storage, I have chosen the SanDisk SSD PLUS 240 GB SSD. It is fast enough for an SSD and is quite cheap at just $69(LOL). I highly recommend going with an SSD as it has much better performance than a traditional HDD. If you want then you can also get a 2TB Seagate HDD for just $56.99.

Case : Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITx case
As per the Title, I am going with a Mini ITx Case. I went with the Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITx case. It is very cheap at just $29.99. It has all necessary features such as Front USB 3.0 headers, good exhaust, etc. Despite being so small, it can fit almost all modern GPUs. It also has an external 5.25 Bay. For such a low Price, it is a great pick for our build.

PSU : Raidmax - Scorpio 535W 80+ Bronze rated PSU
It is a great PSU as it is very cheap at just $30 and is +80 Bronze rating, so it is extremely reliable. But the main feature is that it is fully Modular, so Cable management will be a bliss.

Benchmarks : (Note that all results are taken after CPU and GPU (Vega) Overclock)

Cinebench R15 Multithreaded : 613

Have a Low-End Hardware and want to play good games? Then don't worry as you have come to the right place. Here is my picks for the Top 5 Best Games for Low-End Hardware :
1) Civilization 5
It is one of the best game for lower-end hardware. It is very fun to play and has more mods than people living in Vatican City. It has a Metacritic Rating of 90 and has Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews on Steam. It only requires a Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz CPU, 2GB RAM and 256 MB Nvidia 7900 GS GPU or a i3 with better iGPU.

2) Stardew Valley
You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. How can you go wrong with this game? Never thought that a farming simulator can be this much fun. It has Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews on Steam and has a Metacritic Rating of 89. And you can run this game on a pure potato available at the grocery shop. It also only requires 500 MB of storage. Its like a potato gamer's dream come true.

3) Cuphead
Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. It is a amazing game with Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews on Steam but has a Metacritic Rating of only 88 since the critics found it too difficult to be playable. If you want challenge and have a potato PC then this game is a no-brainier for you.

4) Portal 2

It is based on the Source Engine and has fancy graphics and smart puzzles. You can run this game on a potato easily and it has Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews with a Metacritic Rating of 95. All games from the Source Engine are excellent for a potato PC but Portal 2 is one of the best along with HL2.

Prepare to be enchanted by a world where the choices you make and the paths you choose shape your destiny. Pillars of Eternity is developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of the Amazing Game Fallout : New Vegas, published by Paradox Interactive. $500 Workstation + Gaming PC

February 17, 2018     $500 workstation + gaming pc, budget editing pc, Budget gaming, budget gaming pc, budget pc, budget workstation, Cheap workstation.PC, e5-2670, gtx770     2 comments

As we all know that GPU prices are just absurd right now, so I decided to build a used Workstation + Gaming PC without breaking the bank.

1) The main PC :
I am a huge fan of pre-built workstations like Dell's T series and Lenovo's S series. So, i jumped into Ebay and searched for a workstation and I found a Lenovo S30 Workstation with a Xeon E5-1620 CPU, 16 GB RAM, 2 TB HDD, Ouadro 2000 GPU and a 128 GB SSD for $300. It is not a bad deal considering that it has a good capacity HDD with an SSD.

2) The Upgrades :
CPU :
I decided to upgrade the quad-core E5-1620 with a better 8 core E5-2670. The new CPU has a clock speed of 2.6 GHz and turbo upto 3.3 GHz. It has 8 cores and 16 threads and costs around $90-$110. It is very good for rendering and editing and not too bad for gaming too.
GPU :
And for the GPU, I found an EVGA GTX 770 4GB for $100 on craigslist. On Ebay I saw a listing for the same card for $117. If you don't play games then the included Quadro card will do just fine for video editing and rendering purposes. You can also upgrade the RAM for very cheap as this PC supports cheap ECC memory.

Benchmarks :
Cinebench R15 Multi-Threaded - 1039
MS-Excel 2013 Monte Carlo - 2.9 s

*PUBG 1080P not 1090P

Top 7 Best Linux Distributions for Beginners

February 14, 2018     best linux, best linux distribution, best linux distro for beginners, mac alternative, top 7 best linux, top 7 best linux distributions, windows alternative     No comments

Many people are hesitant to use Linux because they think it is very difficult. This might be true for distributions like Gentoo or Arch which have a steep learning curve but there are many distros which focus on being user-friendly. But which is the best? Today, I am presenting you Top 7 Best Linux Distributions for Beginners.

1) Linux Mint
Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, support for DVD playback, Java and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, and a web-based package installation interface. Linux Mint is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories. This distro is one of the best user-friendly distro as it gives you windows like start button and menus, but it is also based on Ubuntu.

2) Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a complete desktop Linux operating system, freely available with both community and professional support. The Ubuntu community is built on the ideas enshrined in the Ubuntu Manifesto: that software should be available free of charge, that software tools should be usable by people in their local language and despite any disabilities, and that people should have the freedom to customize and alter their software in whatever way they see fit. "Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others". The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.

3) Zorin
Zorin OS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution designed especially for newcomers to Linux. It has a Windows-like graphical user interface and many programs similar to those found in Windows. Zorin OS also comes with an application that lets users run many Windows programs. The distribution's ultimate goal is to provide a Linux alternative to Windows and let Windows users enjoy all the features of Linux without complications.

4) Elementary
If you like Mac-OS then you will also like Elementary OS. Elementary OS is an Ubuntu-based desktop distribution. Some of its more interesting features include a custom mac-like desktop environment called Pantheon and many custom apps including Photos, Music, Videos, Calendar, Terminal, Files, and more. It also comes with some familiar apps like the Epiphany web browser and a fork of Geary mail.

5) Manjaro
Arch is a great distribution. It is my favorite distro. But the installing process is not so user-friendly for new users. This is where Manjaro comes into play. Manjaro Linux is a fast, user-friendly, desktop-oriented operating system based on Arch Linux. Key features include intuitive installation process, automatic hardware detection, stable rolling-release model, ability to install multiple kernels, special Bash scripts for managing graphics drivers and extensive desktop configurability. Manjaro Linux offers Xfce as the core desktop options, as well as a minimalist Net edition for more advanced users. Community-supported GNOME 3/Cinnamon and KDE flavors are available. Users also benefit from the supportive and vibrant Manjaro community forum.
6) Ubuntu Mate
Ubuntu MATE is a desktop Linux distribution which aims to bring the simplicity and elegance of the Ubuntu operating system through a classic, traditional desktop environment - the MATE desktop. MATE is the continuation of the GNOME 2 desktop environment which was used as Ubuntu's default desktop until 10.10 (when it was replaced by Unity). The project began its life as an Ubuntu "remix", but starting with version 15.04, it was formally accepted as an official member of the Ubuntu family of Linux distributions.

7) Linux Lite
Have a old computer and want to revive it? Then Linux Lite is one of the best choices available. It is very snappy and fast and perfect for old computers. Linux Lite is a beginner-friendly Linux distribution based on Ubuntu's long-term support (LTS) releaseand featuring the Xfce desktop. Linux Lite primarily targets Windows users. It aims to provide a complete set of applications to assist users with their everyday computing needs, including a full office suite, media players and other essential daily software.

Xbox One X vs PS4 PRO

February 14, 2018     best console, powerful console, ps4 pro, xbox one x, xbox one x vs ps4 pro, Xbox vs PS4     No comments

With the realease of the the Xbox One X, the most powerful current-gen console, it has made a huge shift in 4K console gaming. But it faces a tough competition from Sony's $399 PS4 PRO. Both of the consoles focus on 4K gaming. But which is the better choice?

Hardware :
The Xbox One X has a nice compact design at 11.8x9.4x2.3 inches. But, it weighs about 8.4 pounds. The PS4 PRO is larger at 15.6x11.6x2.6 inches, but lighter, at 7 pounds.
Winner : Xbox One X. It may be heavy but it is compact and packs a serious power under its hood.
Xbox : 1 PS4 : 0

Pricing :
The Xbox One X costs $499 while the PS4 PRO costs $399. It may just be a $100 difference, but since most console gamers are casual gamers, this might be a huge deal breaker for them.
Winner : PS4 PRO
Xbox : 1 PS4 : 1

Performance :
The Xbox One X is very powerful. It has a 8-core AMD CPU overclocked to 2.3 GHz while the PS4 PRO has the same CPU but clocked a little bit less, at 2.13 GHz. But the real difference lies in the graphics depertment. The Xbox One X has a AMD Polaris 6 TeraFlops GPU with a bandwidth of 326 GB/s while the PS4 PRO has a 4.2 TeraFlops AMD GPU with a bandwidth of 218 GB/s. The Xbox One X has a 12GB Shared System RAM while the PS4 PRO has 8GB of RAM.
Winner : Xbox One X
Xbox : 2 PS4 : 1

VR :
The PS4 PRO has VR support while the Xbox One X has no VR support at all but they might release one in the future.
Winner : PS4 PRO
Xbox : 2 PS4 : 2

Current-Gen Game Library :
Xbox might be more powerful, but without games it will just be a box. Both consoles have Multi-Platform games 3rd party developers like EA and Ubisoft but the exclusive titles make their console more desirable. PS4 has a lot of amazing exclusives like The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Uncharted Series, Bloodborne, Nioh, etc. Xbox also has some great exclusives like Halo, Gears of War, Forza, etc. but a lot of these exclusives are available on PC.
Winner : PS4 PRO
Xbox : 2 PS4 : 3

Backward Compatibilty :
Sony's PS Now subscription allows us to play select PS3 titles for $20 per month or for $15 per game, you can play a lot of PS2 games upscaled to 1080p. On the other hand, the Xbox One X has got access to all Xbox 360 games and all the original Xbox games. This is great as their are a ton of amazing games on  the 360 and the Original Xbox.
Winner : Xbox One X
Xbox : 3 PS4 : 3

User Interface :
Both consoles have a modern and snappy interfaces. The PS4 PRO has a minimalistic design while the Xbox has a Windows 8 like interface. The PS4 PRO has Share Play, which lets us give control of our games to others for up to an hour. The Xbox One has a Snap function which lets us to use two separate programs at once. The PS4 PRO's DualShock 4 controller has a dedicated share button to share game footage and share it while on the Xbox, it is a longer process.
Winner : PS4 PRO
Xbox : 3 PS4 : 4

Media Consumption :
The Xbox One X's HDMI-in port lets us to route our cable boxes to watch live TV on the console. It also has a ton of apps like CBS, AMC, etc. The PS4 has lesser apps but it has access to Spotify Music, which the Xbox One does not include. The Xbox One X also has a 4K Blu-Ray drive.
Winner : Xbox One X
Xbox : 4 PS4 : 4

Conclusion :
Tie
Both consoles are great for gaming and entertainment. But if you want a cheap 4K capable console with great exclusives, VR support and good UI, then go for the PS4 PRO. But if you want a powerful True 4K capable console with backward compatibilty and great media consumption, then go for the Xbox One X.

Top 5 Best Alternatives to Steam

February 14, 2018     best steam alternative, gog, green man gaming, humble store, origin, steam, steam alternative, top 5 steam alternatives, uplay     No comments

Steam is the most popular DRM for PC Games. But it does not mean that there are no alternatives. Infact, there are many great alternatives to Steam. Today, I am presenting you the Top 5 Steam Alternatives.

1) GOG.com
GOG is my favourite digital distribution site for PC Games as it provides great deals but the best thing about it is that it provides DRM-free games. GOG is made by the people at CD Projekt the developers of the popular "Witcher" series.

2) Humble Store
Better known for its periodic Humble Bundles and Humble Monthly, Humble now provides a traditional style store for games. It is a great site for buying games at a discount but the killer deals are found in its Bundles and Humble Monthly. You can pay what you want and also support charity.

3) Green Man Gaming
Green Man Gaming is a online site which provides digital keys for Steam, Origin, Uplay and Battle.net. Their Holiday Deals usually also provides free gifts. They also have extra discounts for their "VIP" customers.

4) Origin
If you want big AAA games like Battlefield, Titanfall 2, etc. then Origin is the way to go as it is the only way to get EA Games without purchasing digital keys for Origin. They also provide one free game each month.

5) UPlay
Uplay is simillar to Origin, the only difference being it is for Ubisoft Games. You can also get Ubisoft Games on Steam but you still have to download and activate Uplay client which is a huge annoyance. Sometimes it also has games on a small discount not availabe anywhere else.
